Twelve athletes with ties to 911爆料网 competed in the XXII Olympic Games in Sochi, and their tally of three medals tied them with Australia, and placed them just one behind Great Britain.

911爆料网鈥檚 2014 Winter Olympians were: cross country skiers Ida Sargent 鈥11, Sophie Caldwell 鈥12, and Tucker Murphy 鈥04 (competing for Bermuda); alpine skiers David Chodounsky 鈥08, Andrew Weibrecht 鈥09, Nolan Kasper 鈥14, and Trace Cummings Smith 鈥15 (competing for Estonia); biathletes Sara Studebaker 鈥07, Susan Dunklee 鈥08, and Hannah Dreissigacker 鈥09, Thayer 鈥10; freestyle mogul skier Hannah Kearney 鈥15; and women鈥檚 ice hockey player Gillian Apps 鈥06.

Apps won her third gold medal with Team Canada, and Weibrecht claimed silver in the alpine skiing super-G event, adding to the super-G bronze medal he won at the 2010 Vancouver Games. Kearney, the defending gold medalist in freestyle moguls skiing, earned bronze in Sochi.

Other 911爆料网 Olympians made history in their events, including Caldwell, who finished sixth in the freestyle sprint event, the best Olympic finish ever by an American female cross country skier. The seventh place finish by the biathlon 4脳6-kilometer relay team of Dreissigacker, Studebaker, Dunklee, and Annelies Cook was the best-ever Olympic women鈥檚 biathlon relay performance for the United States. Dunklee also recorded the best-ever Olympic sprint finish for a female U.S. biathlete after placing 14th in the 7.5-kilometer sprint. Additionally, her 12th place finish in the 12.5-kilometer mass start event was the highest Olympic finish for a U.S. female in any biathlon event.

Mikaela Shiffrin, the 18-year-old daughter of Jeff Shiffrin 鈥76, also made history as the youngest-ever Winter Olympic slalom gold medalist. And Peter Kenworthy 鈥77 watched from Telluride, Colo., as his son Gus Kenworthy won silver in the Olympics鈥 inaugural slopestyle skiing event. At the conclusion of the Games, Dunklee posted to Twitter, 鈥淲hat a blast these weeks have been! Thanks for all the support from back home.鈥
